Photos without Haze – Why a UV Filter is Important
So, you are all ready to snap in the big, great, bright outdoors. However, you are wondering why your photos are coming out hazy. You once again, wipe your lens with a cloth from your lens cleaning kit. But the photos are still a bit unclear,almost foggy. It’s quite frustrating really, because all you need is a UV Filter, and you’ve got yourself excellent photos. UV Filters are generally inexpensive and definitely pay the investment. Besides protecting your lens from dust and scratches, it will eliminate the haze caused by the sun in your photos. Taking Photos in the Sunshine
Many people want to capture their vacations on film with their compact digital cameras and other photography equipment. They feel like they need to remember their trips to the beach or to Grandma’s for posterity. However, with the summer sun blazing down overhead many people don’t know how to use their cameras to take the optimum pictures.
First rule of thumb is that you should always try to take photographs with the sun (or other light source) behind you. This way the features of the people and objects you’re shooting will be well lit.
If you don’t have this option (if the sun is directly overhead when your son takes his first messy bite of choco taco) try to make your own shade. Moving into the shade can create great photographs but you still might find it lacking a little. Shade makes everyone look a little bit on the grey side. This is why you can use something called “fill in flash.” Try taking the same photograph with and without the flash. Most of the time the flash will create enough light to avoid that grey looking feel.
You can also try to use different filters on your camera such as a polarizing filter to make sure you get the best light possible.

Photography Equipment for Thunderstorms
There’s nothing more phenomenal than a thunderstorm. It’s all at once beautiful, awe-inspiring and frightening. Summertime brings a lot of them to light and you may be wondering how to get the perfect shot when you experience one. Lightning itself is the illusive natural occurrence that we are all after, harder to get a good shot of than fireworks.
You’ll definitely want a DSLR camera with a B-shutter speed. A fixed focal lens is a good option and a sturdy tripod. The last thing you want is the movement of your own hand causing a blurry shot. Slow speed film is a great investment as well.
Location of course is important. No matter what photography equipment you have, it won’t matter if you don’t have a great location for the shots. An open field, a hill or higher elevated area or near a body of water are all great places to take these photos. A perfect lightning strike over the ocean can be an intense image.
Of course, be safe when taking these shots. Take them only if the storm is a good distance away and don’t stay out and near trees or metal if it seems as though it is getting closer.

The Right DSLR Camera Settings for Graduation
Graduation day is upon us for many and what better way to commemorate the event than taking pictures of the big day. But when you bring that DSLR camera with you, you need to know the right way to take these photos as well as what some good shots may be.
First of all, aim to get shots of your graduate at different points in the day. From getting ready before hand, to actually getting their diploma handed to them at the ceremony, to the celebrations afterward. Don’t forget to get shots of yourself and other family members either!
Flash is probably not something you’ll need or want to use. You won’t need it outside before and after the ceremony and it just won’t look good during either. It also can be a bit of a distraction to the graduates walking. The only time you may want to consider flash is if your subject is wearing a white cap and gown. Otherwise, it’s best to go without for darker gown colors.
Don’t forget that DSLR cameras are great for taking pictures of inanimate objects, like graduation invitations and decor, and making them look really special. It’ll be a nice addition to the rest of the photos in your set.
